I am super excited to be going to a wedding this coming weekend. Since the conveyer belt of marriages some 10-15 years ago, weddings have become few and far between in my world. So this one is going to be pretty special for more reasons than one.
Not only is the bride a dear, family friend who has finally found THE ONE. But this is our first wedding as a family. My daughter who just turned 10 has never been to a wedding before! Yes, there’s been the odd wedding here and there over the last few years, but no invites extending to the kids. So this is a highly anticipated event in our household!!
Aside from watching someone you adore marry the love of their life… what I love about a wedding (of course) is getting dressed up.
However, an October wedding outfit is not as simple as it sounds…
I searched for the obvious – a dress – but nothing really stood out. Lots of lovely winter florals, but nothing I felt suited the occasion. I contemplated a jumpsuit, but unusually for me, I didn’t have any success with that either. And then I turned to skirts… initially prom-style skirts, which led me to an amazing tiered, tulle skirt by ASOS.
I have always adored Carrie Bradshaw’s iconic pink tulle skirt. This ASOS skirt is the closest I’ll get and pretty much satisfies that lust! But rather than buy the grey or pink options, I bought it in navy. Not only was the navy colour reduced to £20 (you know how I like a bargain!) but it will also go perfectly with my comfy navy, satin sock-boots (footwear is a serious consideration at a wedding!)
Midi or maxi length tiered skirts are quite the thing at the moment. They are a fun, flirty departure from pleated skirts. But in the same way, they can be worn dressed-up with heels and a statement top, or paired-down with chunky boots or trainers and a sweatshirt or slouchy jumper.
Ooh, how I love versatile clothing that works for both day & night, smart or caj!!!
Where to buy:
I cannot wait to see my oldest friend (literally – our Mum’s met on the labour ward!) tie the knot. It will be bittersweet as my dear Mum & Dad will be absent… but nonetheless, a day to remember and one we’ll enjoy immensely as a family. Ding dong the bells are gonna shine!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this selection of tiered skirts and perhaps been inspired to explore this look. As always I’d love to hear your thoughts so please do leave a comment below.
