I’m Claire, a wife and Mum of two in my mid-forties. I created Club Forty in June 2016 to share my steps towards mid-life, inspired by strength, style and optimism and a good dash of fun!
My forties didn’t get off to the best start to say the least… That time was overshadowed by stress, sadness and utter despair and grief as I lost my Dad to Motor Neurons Disease in January 2013 – the month before my 40th birthday – and my Mum to Cancer a couple of years later in December 2015.
So this is a new chapter in my life; one without my parents. Time to finally grow up.
The initial motivation to start blogging was to process my feelings as a way to make sense of them, but then I realised I could use the blog as a creative outlet too.
I have always been massively interested in fashion and food, talking endlessly with girlfriends about what to wear and what to eat… sharing tips and new discoveries, so why not journalise it all in one place?
From trying out new trends and asking “am I too old for this?” to discussing how to obtain that rare work/life balance… I hope my little corner of the internet is an extension of the frivolous & heartfelt conversations I have with girlfriends over a coffee or (usually) something stronger!!
I hope that Club Forty will interest and appeal to women of all ages as it’s more about mindset; feeling positive, contemporary, energetic and vital. Becuase life, especially after the age of 40, should be fun & fashionable; even if we have to navigate a few challenges along the way!
Welcome to Club Forty!
