I don’t know about you, but my main priority on Christmas Day is being comfortable. Yes, boring I know – but so true! So despite the glitter and the sequins of the preceeding festivities, I am likely to be wearing something stretchy and highly forgiving on the big day!!!
I have a very healthy appetite and I fully embrace the ‘Eat, Drink and be Merry’ element of Christmas! So I need an outfit that won’t feel restricting, uncomfortable or too fussy.
Of course, ‘comfortable’ doesn’t have to be any less stylish or glamorous. Although I am sure that after the last pigs in blanket has been scoffed and the upteenth glass of champers has been polished off – I will look anything but glamourous… especially with an After Eight stuck to my forehead!!
By way of stretchy I am thinking of the elasticated waistband on a pair of velvet trousers I own – they are so comfy but still look stylish. Or I might opt for my H&M tent dress (current season – main image) or a loose-fitting jumpsuit. Anything that will accomodate my full belly and not reveal that I am giving Santa a run for his money in the roundess stakes!
Something simple will suit me best. I’ll be cooking for a large part of the day so I definitely don’t want any statement sleeves dipping into the pot as I stir the bread sauce or dangling into my gravy as I feast.
Here’s a few ideal (for me!) Christmas Day dresses:
If you also like the idea of a pair of soft, velvet trousers with that all important elasticated waist, there’s lots around right now… You’ll also be able to wear them after Christmas with a pair of white trainers and a sweatshirt.
Alternatively, a loose-fitting jumpsuit would look and feel great to wear on Christmas Day… I own a classic black jumpsuit that would fit the bill. I’ve had it for many years and it’s one that I feel really comfortable in.
So what about you? Do you dress-up on Christmas day or are you in relaxed, comfy clothing? Or even like a friend of mine who spends the whole of Christmas Day in her PJs?!! I guess it depends on what you have planned for the day…
