I was recently asked which wardrobe staple I couldn’t live without. It’s a tough one as there are so many items I treasure in my wardrobe, but if you told me you were taking my jeans away I would crumble!!! All those outfit combinations – everyday casual or evening – out of the window, no thanks!
And so, it might be a bit obvious but the item I couldn’t live without is jeans. They’re versatile, stylish, essential and comfy (with the right fit). A boyfriend cut has to be one of my favourite styles to wear. I love the relaxed fit. Although slim-cropped flared jeans would be a close second on the favourite list.
I wore this outfit (above) last autumn, but as you know the great thing about jeans is that they work from season to season. So after the glorious weather we had over the Easter Bank Holiday, I’ve reinvented my denim favourites with a few key pieces…
The sunshine over the Easter break gave me masses of summer wardrobe inspiration and I chose to elevate my light-washed denim with this gorgeous embroidered navy top from Velvet by Graham and Spencer. The pure cotton fabric is soft and light which makes it great for holidays too. The cut also means that it works with a chic french tuck, as styled above, or you can wear it loose.
The ethnic inspired print and flattering fit with fanned sleeves works so well teamed with this style of denim, achieving a casual look without it being too slouchy. And this style is a definite nod to the current boho trend. I love the navy colour too as it’s less harsh than black, but equally as stylish.
The item that really lifts the entire outfit is the pop of sunshine yellow from the sandals. These Sofia Espadrille Sandals available from Kanna are a fantastic investment!. The buttery soft leather on the sole and slingback straps make them gloriously comfy and a great choice for a sun filled stroll.
I am totally into flat-form shoes and loving revisiting this trend. The chunky soles add just enough height to ‘lift’ cropped trousers and elongate the leg, but without the discomfort of wobbly heels! And you know that comfort and style are what I’m always looking for!!!
I’d love to know which wardrobe staple you couldn’t live without… Maybe it’s a white t-shirt or a pair of classic black trousers? Please do leave a comment to let me know!
The top and shoes were gifted to me by Zen Wardrobe, but all opinions are my own.
