Have you noticed that buttons are everywhere right now? Not great for people who suffer from koumpounophobia – yes, there’s an acutal, recognised fear of buttons! Thankfully I have no such phobia and I am seriously feeling a ‘button-down’ hole my wardrobe.
The buttons first appeared on summer dresses, but have now spread to cami tops and skirts too. This micro trend has been massively adopted by Zara and Mango who currently offer a wide range of fresh linen and cotton pieces, which work just as well for brunch in the City as for a summer evening by the sea. And New Look is the place to go (online) for no less than 140 inexpensive button-down camis and tops to choose from!!!
In my opinion, button-down trend is just perfect for us 40-somethings as it’s classic and yet comtemporary.
Pair a button-down cami top with a button-down skirt for maxium button impact. Or go for that ‘Riviera’ look in a simple but chic button-down, white dress – perhaps with a bardot-style neckline. There’s lots of styles to choose from… Accessories should be minimal; let the buttons do the talking! Tan slides or sandals, espadrille wedges and basket bags are the accessories of choice for SS18 and team perfectly with all the looks below.

I hope you’ve found something of interest in my edit of button-down pieces. I’m definitely planning to add buttons to my wardrobe! I have been rather slack at purchasing tops this season so I am going to buy a couple of button-down camis at the very least…
As always, I love to know your thoughts on the trends I post, so please do leave me a comment below.
Until next time!
