I am very much drawn to metallic shoes. When I am out browsing in shoe shops, it is the current array of gold, silver, bronze and pewter shades that catch my eye… A bit like a magpie attracted to shiny treasures (although apparently this is a myth!)
A pair of metallic shoes adds a ‘je ne sais quoi” to an outfit. I tend to wear neutral clothes – lots of jeans and black, with limited accessories, so I love adding a pair of silver loafers to give an interesting edge to what might otherwise be a fairly boring ensemble.
Metallics are no longer limited to evening wear, and you certainly don’t need to wait for the Christmas festivities to start wearing them. Like sequins, they are now totally acceptable for every-day wear too.
Metallic shoes have become another ‘neutral’. They go with anything from monochrome to geometric patterns. The wide variety of metallic shades and hues will pair with any colour. A truly versatile item.
A trouser suit looks particularly cool with a pair of metallic loafers or brogues. Metallic ankle boots add edge to a floral midi dress and ripped boyfriend jeans can be vamped up with gold or silver pumps or heels.
I particularly love the quirkiness of teaming metallic shoes with opaque tights, so they can be worn well into the colder months.
My silver loafers came from H&M several seasons ago, but I am definitely tempted to invest in a pair of metallic ankle boots, the bronze ones from Next below are my particular favourites (they are leather too!)
I had trouble limiting my choices below, as there are so many fab metallic shoes available. For this post, I have selected shoes and boots, not trainers – although I LOVE gold/silver trainers, which I already picked in a previous post here.
What are your thoughts on metallic footwear? As always, I’d love to hear from you!
