Although it’s currently mild, I’ve given up all hope of an Indian Summer. To be honest, if it happened now I’d feel cheated as I’m ready for Autumn. I’m looking forward to darker nights, crunchy leaves underfoot, lighting the fire and cosy nights-in with a large glass of red! Plus there is the freshness and excitement of a seasonal wardrobe change (yes, that’s really all it takes to get me excited these days!!) Bring on AW18!
I’ll be packing away summer dresses and slides and rediscovering the chunky knits I bought last year… Out of sight, out of mind really does apply and I’ll no doubt be chirping with joy at long-forgotten purchases!!!
With the new season styles well and truly hitting us from every angle – either the AW18 seasonal-edit catalogue through the letterbox or the online promos – I am desperate to hit the shops and spend! BUT I am going to make careful purchases this season and only buy what I actually need. (Yeah, right! I hear you all scoffing…)
As much as I love fashion, I am going to try to avoid emotional purchases – that is, the item I simply have to have because I LOVE IT, but yet it goes with nothing I already own and therefore requires additional purchases to even vaguely constitute a workable and reusable outfit.
So, what I plan to do this coming weekend is a wardrobe audit. I’ll follow my 7 Wardrobe Detox Steps and make a list of items I need to complete outfits over the next few months of AW18. Of course, I want a few on-trend pieces and I’ll no doubt need to restock some essentials. I already know that some classic, black cigarette-style trousers will be useful – I’ll share my findings with you!
You may be thinking that all this careful planning takes the fun out of clothes shopping. But it doesn’t, not to me at least. I have previously written about my philosophy when it comes to buying clothes (here). I enjoy making my wardrobe ‘work’ (it’s the control freak in me!!!) I get as much enjoyment from so-called ‘styling my wardrobe’ as I do shopping for new clothes.
Look out for upcoming posts where I’ll bring you more on the trends for AW18! Please do let me know if you’d like me to focus on any particular trend or wardrobe challenge…
Oh and lastly, keep your eyes peeled on my Instagram as I’m super chuffed and excited to be partnering with several well-known brands in promo campaigns!

Ooh, I don’t suppose you could write about coats, could you? I’d really like a new one, but I’m not sure what to look for and never seem to be able to get my coat to work with my outfit quite how I want to. Yet I hate being cold! Any advice, please? So looking forward to cool autumn walks and cosy nights in. xx
Yes, I will definitely write a post on coats Marion! X
I love the seasonal pack up and unveiling – it’s a real treat when you find clothes/shoes you forgot you had!
How bad is it that we can’t remember what we have!!! X
